Professional Services to Clients

Here is an overview of the services we provide:

Preparation of financial statements. Statements provide critical information for management and stakeholders of a business. For those businesses that do not require a full time accountant or bookkeeper, we provide the services necessary, complementing the abilities available within the company. These customized services include:
  • Monthly bookkeeping and data processing
  • Payroll processing
  • Regular filings (such as source deductions and GST)
  • Interim financial statements (done quarterly or for other periods)
Frequently Asked Questions

Review of financial statements. To meet the requirements of creditors, shareholders, government agencies, bonding companies and others, we can provide you a review of your financial statements. This provides a limited, but generally accepted, level of assurance for a set of financial statements (as opposed to a more expensive audit)

Financial projections and forecasts. Future-oriented information and analysis is an important tool for obtaining new or alternative financing. We can help you prepare or review your projections and forecasts to help ensure their accuracy and reliability, and their consistency with established accounting practices.

Personal Taxation. Services include planning so that you pay the least amount of tax possible, as well as preparation and filing of your tax return. If necessary, we will represent you before the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency with respect to your tax return.

Corporate Taxation. Corporate tax planning takes into account a multitude of taxes, including income tax, payroll tax and capital taxes. Our team has the knowledge and experience to minimize corporate tax payable. We will, of course, prepare your tax return and deal with the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency as necessary.

Estates and Trusts. Planning and compliance matters for estates and trusts can be very complex. It is critical that your advisors understand the taxation of estates and trusts, in order to minimize the tax on the trust and its beneficiaries, while reflecting your wishes.

Commodity Taxation. Commodity taxes include everything from GST to provincial sales taxes plus excise taxes on fuel, tobacco and alcohol (among others). These taxes are typically transaction-based, and to be effectively managed require that your systems are set up to capture all the information needed for compliance and reporting, as well as tax minimization.

Bank financing plays a key role in most business financial strategies. We have extensive experience in corporate finance and banking. We can help determine the best type of financing for your business, prepare your financing plan, approach lenders most likely to be receptive, help negotiate the best possible terms.

Strategic Planning This is a vital management exercise that clarifies corporate priorities, resolves outstanding issues and helps puts your business on the road to better performance. We can develop and analyze a client questionnaire that probes critical business issues. We can assist in the planning session, provide financial analysis of the business, capture key performance indicators to date, facilitate a one-day planning session to make strategic decisions, and provide a report and follow-up on recommended actions to guide implementation.

Business Plans are an essential tool for companies of all sizes, but are especially critical for businesses in a start-up phase, undergoing significant change, or needing to raise new capital via debt or equity. We take a systematic approach to determining the optimal path for developing a business, including specific actions relating to short-term direction, detailed plans for the next three to five years, and general plans for the longer term. The result is a living document creating focused, timely and disciplined management decisions.

Corporate Re-organizations Tax planning surrounding a corporate reorganization in situations such as withdrawal of a shareholder, mergers and estate freezes can not only save significant money now, but reduce future taxes payable upon death, dissolution or sale.

Business Valuations We can prepare a valuation report which contains a detailed analysis of your business and our opinion concerning its value for use in situations where a valuation is required for purchase or sale of a business, for an estate freeze or for a marital breakup.

Purchase and Sale of Business We can assist you with all aspects of purchasing or selling a business including locating potential buyers or sellers, developing a negotiating strategy and assisting with the due diligence process.
